Seniors Helping Seniors® in-home care Is Coming to Worcester

A new chapter in senior care is unfolding in Worcester.

Seniors Helping Seniors® Worcester, a unique in-home care service that pairs active older adults with seniors who need a little extra support, is opening a new location to serve Worcester and surrounding communities including Shrewsbury, Northborough, Boylston, and West Boylston.

At the heart of this new location is franchise owner George Arab, a Rutland resident whose journey into senior care is deeply personal.

From Health Care IT to a Higher Calling

For 25 years, George Arab built a career in health care information technology. But spreadsheets and systems eventually gave way to something more human.

Years ago, while living in Massachusetts, Arab had to make the difficult decision to place his aunt in a care facility in Lebanon. She was the oldest member of his extended family.

“Everyone else in the family had already perished,” he recalled. “I had a job and my family. I was traveling for work at the time.”

Later, he faced another heartbreaking chapter when his mother entered a nursing home.

“She didn’t last long. I wasn’t able to visit. It was a very unfortunate time.”

Those experiences left a lasting impact.

“It really hit a nerve,” Arab said.

Out of that nerve came purpose.

After researching different senior care options, he discovered the Seniors Helping Seniors® franchise. The model resonated immediately.

“It’s not just a job,” he said. “It’s good for everyone. It provides independence and dignity for seniors. They get to keep their life, and they can enjoy it.”

How the Model Works

Seniors Helping Seniors® Worcester takes a refreshingly human approach to care. Instead of simply assigning a caregiver, the company carefully matches more active seniors with less active seniors based on shared hobbies, personalities, and interests.

Think less clinical pairing and more thoughtful connection.

Caregivers assist with everyday needs such as:

  • Light housekeeping
  • Meal preparation
  • Transportation
  • Companionship
  • Other day to day tasks that help seniors remain safely at home

“We capture a ton of information that would help match the seniors, and then we do the same thing with caregivers,” Arab explained. “We check their qualities and their abilities before we match.”

Matching is not casual or rushed. It is deliberate and thorough.

Before introducing a caregiver, the team conducts an in home assessment to understand the senior’s needs, preferences, and environment. Caregivers undergo background checks, driving record checks, and drug screenings.

“There’s a lot of investigation,” Arab said. “Even before we introduce the caregiver to the senior, we would make an assessment.”

The goal is simple but powerful: the right support, with the right person, at the right time.

Hiring Seniors to Help Seniors

The Worcester franchise is currently hiring seniors to serve as caregivers. Arab hopes to bring on five to ten caregivers initially to ensure strong shift coverage before welcoming clients.

For many older adults, caregiving offers more than income. It provides purpose, social connection, and a way to give back to peers in their own community.

It turns experience into empathy.

Part of a Growing Massachusetts Network

The Worcester location will become the fifth Seniors Helping Seniors® franchise in Massachusetts, joining locations in Waltham, Norfolk, North Andover, and Saugus.

As demand grows for in home care options that prioritize dignity and independence, this expansion reflects a broader shift. More families are seeking solutions that allow their loved ones to remain at home, surrounded by familiar routines and meaningful connections.

For George Arab, this is more than a business launch. It is a response to personal loss and a commitment to making sure other families have better options.

Sometimes the most powerful ventures begin not in boardrooms, but in living rooms, hospital corridors, and quiet moments of realization.

In Worcester, that realization is becoming something tangible: neighbors helping neighbors, seniors helping seniors.
