Fourth of July Festivities – City Events in Southwest Broward County

The Fourth of July is right around the corner and public events are back this year! A big change after COVID-19 shut down all public events last year.

Here are the main events planned in Southwest Broward County cities:

 

Pembroke Pines

The City of Pembroke Pines will be hosting an Independence Day Family Picnic and Fireworks Show. This event will be held at Pines Recreation Center located at 7400 Pines Boulevard. The picnic grounds will be opened at 7 p.m. with a Fireworks Show at 9 p.m.

This free event will be open to Pembroke Pines Residents ONLY and tickets will be required to enter the picnic area. Tickets will need to be picked up in person prior to the event. There is limited capacity so the tickets will be issued on a first come, first served basis. There will not be any no online or emailed registrations. Proof of residency can be in the form of a current City of Pembroke Pines water bill, FPL bill, or an auto insurance bill.

Residents are encouraged to bring their own food and drinks, as there will not be any concessions stands or food trucks at the event.

Davie

The Town of Davie will be hosting its Fun on the 4th event to celebrate Independence Day. This free event will have live music from New Shadow Creek and JD Danner Band, games, and food trucks. It will be held at the Bamford Sports Complex/Pine Island Park, 3801 S. Pine Island Road, from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, July 4. This event will be open to registered Davie residents only and residents must be pre-registered beforehand. One ticket will be available per household/vehicle for entry and individual tickets will be emailed prior to the event. Tickets are non-transferable. Walk-ins will not be permitted.

Hollywood

The City of Hollywood will be hosting its annual Star-Spangled Spectacular 4th of July Celebration on Hollywood Beach on Sunday, July 4 . Entertainment will begin at 5 p.m., followed by a special recognition of a local NFL star at 6:30 p.m., and a dazzling offshore fireworks display beginning at 9:00 p.m.

Miramar

The City of Miramar will be hosting a free 4th of July Independence Day Concert and Fireworks Display. Music artists performing are Taylor Dayne, Morgan Heritage, and TimbaLive. This event will be held at Miramar Regional Park located at 16801 Miramar Parkway. The gates open at 5:30 p.m. and no entry permitted after 8 p.m. Food and beverages will be sold at the event. No personal coolers or fireworks permitted.

Weston

The City of Weston will be hosting a Hometown Fourth of July Weekend Celebration – multiple Fourth of July weekend events starting on July 3rd with an evening of family-friendly fun leading up to a spectacular fireworks display to honor Weston’s 25th Anniversary. This event will be held at Regional Park located at 20200 Saddle Club Road, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Sponsored by the YMCA of South Florida, the Weston YMCA Family Center and the City of Weston, the Fourth of July Hometown Celebration 5K Run/Walk will begin at 7:15 a.m. Sunday, July 4. The race begins and ends at Regional Park, 20200 Saddle Club Road. Registration fee: $25 race fee + $4.50 SignUp fee. All participants will receive a finisher medal and a race T-shirt. Weston’s Fourth of July Hometown Celebration Parade will step off at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 4 starting at the corner of Town Center Blvd. and Three Village Road, continuing east on Three Village Road to Bonaventure Blvd. heading south briefly to Bell Tower Lane, and winding through Weston Town Center to the heart of Main Street. This year’s theme honors Weston’s 25th anniversary of incorporation. Plantation

The City of Plantation and Baptist Health will be hosting the Land That I Love event, an Independence Day celebration happening on Saturday, July 3rd.

The event will start off with an Independence Day Parade beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the corner of West Broward Boulevard and N.W. 46th Avenue. The parade heads west to N.W. 69th Avenue, turning right on N.W. 4th Street, ending at Plantation City Hall. (The parade route roads will be closed to traffic during the parade, starting at approximately 7:00 a.m. and ending at 11:00 a.m.)

Then in the evening, a live concert and fireworks show will be held at the Plantation Central Park Ball Fields. The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m., featuring Shane Duncan Band, a Florida-based ultimate party band. The fireworks will follow at 9:00 p.m. Food is available for purchase during the evening program.

Sunrise

The City of Sunrise will be hosting a Parade of Stars & Family Fun Day from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, July 4. Themed floats and marching units will travel west along Sunset Strip from Northwest 12th Street to City Park, 6600 Sunset Strip, where the fun will continue with free refreshments and a children’s fun zone. Later the celebration will be continued Outdoors at the BB&T Center, located at One Panther Parkway, from 3:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. This nighttime celebration will include a children’s fun zone, an assortment of food and beverage vendors, and live entertainment. The entertainment lineup includes three fantastic bands, a music mix by DJ Holiday of 102.7 The Beach, and an amazing fireworks display. Parking and admission are free.
