We’re excited to celebrate the continued growth of the Seniors Helping Seniors® family with the opening of a new franchise serving Porter and La Porte counties in Northwest Indiana.
New franchise owner Michael Heinold brings more than business experience to his new role—he brings a deeply personal understanding of why compassionate, in-home care matters.
Growing up, Michael watched his grandmother, who was living with ALS, transition into a nursing home earlier than his family had hoped because there weren’t enough in-home care options available. That experience shaped his perspective on aging and the importance of helping older adults remain in the comfort of their own homes whenever possible.
He also witnessed another inspiring example through his partner, Vanessa. Her grandmother continues to live independently at the age of 100, and her grandfather remained at home until he was 106 years old. These experiences reinforced Michael’s belief that, with the right support, many older adults can continue living safely, comfortably, and independently at home.
“Seniors Helping Seniors® is a natural extension of both my professional experience and personal values,” Michael shared. “I’ve spent my career building high-performing, people-centered organizations, and this model allows me to apply that same philosophy in a more direct and meaningful way—helping seniors maintain dignity, independence, and connection while creating purpose-driven opportunities for caregivers in the community.”
As America’s population continues to age, the need for quality in-home care has never been greater. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, approximately 70% of adults who reach retirement age will require some form of long-term care during their lifetime. For many families, that care doesn’t have to mean moving into a facility. Services like companionship, transportation, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and assistance with daily activities can help older adults remain where they most want to be—at home.
The Northwest Indiana office becomes the third Seniors Helping Seniors® location in Indiana, continuing the organization’s mission of connecting older adults who need assistance with compassionate caregivers who understand the aging experience firsthand.
“We’ve become a leader in this industry by prioritizing the best possible care for our seniors, and that means partnering with only the most passionate and hard-working franchise owners,” said Seniors Helping Seniors® President Namrata Yocom-Jan. “That’s exactly what we’ve found with Michael, who is well-equipped to provide unparalleled in-home services to those in need throughout Northwest Indiana.”
Today, Seniors Helping Seniors® in-home care proudly supports communities across the country through a network of more than 200 franchise partners. Each new location represents another opportunity to help older adults maintain their independence, build meaningful relationships, and continue living with dignity in the place they call home.
We welcome Michael and his team to the Seniors Helping Seniors® family and look forward to the positive impact they’ll make for seniors and their families throughout Northwest Indiana.
